We played “Mystery Guest”

If you’re a regular follower of this blog, by now you know that we’re going to be back on WGN Radio, the week of Christmas, filling in for Steve Cochran.  So there we were, back in the Tribune Tower, going over some show ideas with Todd Manley, WGN Radio’s Vice President of Content, and Alex Quigley, WGN’s Assistant Program Director.  The meeting was going along fine when Todd got a text from Kristin Decker, who produces Bob Sirott and Marianne Murciano’s show.  Kristin wanted to know, since we were in the building, if we could come down to the Showcase Studio and play “Mystery Guest” with Bob and Marianne.

We said sure.  So, we followed Todd down to the studio and this is what happened.

During a newscast it was picture time.

For a half hour the “Mighty 720” was in the hands of two married couples just having some fun on the radio.  While we were talking we realized that it was just about two years since we’d been in that studio.  Thanks Bob and Marianne for making our first return visit so much fun.

    Great to hear you!

  2. Anita Lang says:

I knew it was you, Steve as soon as you did the Duck sound. Remember 20 years ago when I saw you at Docter’s Florist in South Holland. I then had my 2 month daughter with me. She took such a shine to you and Johnnie and even let Johnnie hold her. She is now 20 and attends college at Moraine Valley Community College majoring in Music Education. I am also the same one who is the Beach Boy fan when Carl Wilson sang “God Only Knows” to me back in 1978 at the Old Chicago Stadium. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you and Johnnie.

  3. Bill Parker says:

Welcome Back, Perhaps even Tony from Ohio will be tuned in. (she was regular caller to most overnight call-in shows. Will be tuned in.

  4. D'Ann Hamilton says:

I echo Michael’s comment. You brightened my day!

  5. J.....anet says:

I guessed correctly, but couldn’t get through I was too excited and couldn’t dial the numbers right. It sure was nice hearing your voices on the air at RADIO PLACE again. Looking forward to even more!

  6. Nancy K Hollins says:

    It’s wonderful!!!!!!!!!!

    • Jack says:

I wonder what the ratings are from 2AM to 5AM. No sour grapes but when our waking hours match up our listening time is a lot lower than when you guys were on the air. We’ll listen for you around Christmas. Bring your “longies” when you leave Florida.

  7. Tom Comer says:

I’m enjoying seeing your photos and reading your comments. I hope to listen to you during Steve’s time slot on this Thursday and Friday evening; Ihope I can find the times you’ll be on radio.I used to listen mostly at night between 12 and 15 years ago. I’d like to keep listening to you in any way possible on the radio or at theaters./

  8. Bob Hale (at last check-up!) says:

Four very talented and REFRESHING voices on Chicago radio…however short the eventr! Be healthy you four….!!! (Bob hale)
