OK, we know it’s not “officially” Spring but, to most of us, Easter Sunday does mark Spring’s unofficial start. So, we thought we’d share some “moments” that are helping us to put that llllooooonnnggg, dreadful winter far back in the rearview mirror.
Let’s start with Johnnie’s Easter Tree.
And then there was our attempt at coloring eggs….
And Steve’s surviving contribution(?)
And, instead of flowers for a friend, a Sunflower cake … Gluten-Free, of course.
Start with 2 boxes of Betty Crocker’s Gluten-Free Chocolate Cake mix or use 1 box for 2 thinner layers. Prepare as directed except use strong coffee instead of water (This enhances the chocolate flavor). Frost with a Gluten-Free canned frosting or, Johnnie recommends, the Hershey’s Cocoa frosting (The recipe is right on the can). Decorate with 2 packs of Peeps, a dozen black jelly beans or a handful of chocolate chips for the center of the flower. And, hopefully it comes out like this.
Along with a sugar overload, Spring finds us feeling very happy to shed our winter coats.
And SPRING forward.
So, as we wrap up this missive, here’s hoping Winter of 2013/14 is just a fading memory for you too and the promise of Spring is a warm reality.
Thanks for hanging out with us.
