In need of a salty-sweet treat to make the day better bunky?
If you have butter, brown sugar, crackers or matzo crackers or pretzels salted or unsalted and a bag of chocolate chips you’re keeping for emergencies you are ready to make “toffee crack”!
Preheat oven to 350.
I use a 10×15 cookie pan with a 1″ rim. Cover it with foil and spray with Pam or butter it lightly.
Layer your base of crackers or pretzels in pan. Don’t overlap.
In a pot over med. heat melt 1 stick of butter & 1/2 cup of brown sugar. Stir continuously until melted then let it continue to boil til it’s bubbly and foamy. Do this either stirring or not for 3 minutes.
(If you are using a larger pan you can use 2 sticks of butter and 1 cup of brown sugar–that makes alot of tempting goodness though!)
*Careful while stirring because splashed toffee can do serious damage!
Pour over your cracker base.
Pop in 350 oven for 8 minutes
Remove from oven and pour chocolate chips over the top let sit til they get soft or pop back in the oven until they are spreadable. Spread chocolate & sprinkle with nuts or sea salt or nothing.
Chill in pan
Remove by lifting the whole piece of foil then you can break it up on the countertop or sit it on a cutting board and break or…grab it in your hands and Snap! See it’s a stress reliever too!
Keep refrigerated😋
Enjoy!
