10 PM – 2 AM — 23 years ago we rang in the New Year on the air with you on WGN Radio from the Showcase Studio for the very first time.  Well, this year will really be an historic event.  Since the WGN studios are moving to a new location, this will be the last time Steve  & Johnnie’s “Cheap Date Life After Dark New Year’s Eve Extravaganza” will welcome in a new year broadcasting from the Showcase studio location!!

Remember, no cover charge and no dress code!!

5-9 AM — Once again, 2 of your friendly, local, turkeys will be gobbling up the airwaves this Thanksgiving day on WGN.

9 AM — We’re spending just a few days on Florida’s Gulf Coast and, coinciding with the advent of the first solar eclipse in nearly a century, we’re heading back to WKGC-FM (90.7-FM), in Panama City, FL to hang out inside your radio speaker with our friend Scott Kirkman and the rest of The Morning Mix crew.  Special glasses are not needed.

11:00 AM — On the weekend of, what would have been, Les Paul’s 102nd birthday, we’ll be doing a special appearance/book signing/presentation at Discovery World, in Milwaukee, WI, the home of Les Paul’s House Of Sound.

6:00 AM — Rescheduled from Tuesday, 3/14/17, when the weather went south:

We’re heading to Steve’s old stomping grounds of WJOB in Hammond, IN to hang out on the morning show with Jim Dedlow.

In May of 1966, Steve began his radio career at WJOB.  In 1967, an offer from another radio station resulted in his leaving WJOB.  So, this will be a LONG overdue homecoming of sorts for Steve.

Saturday night/Sunday morning, 12/31/16 – 1/1/17

10 PM – 2 AM — 22 years ago we rang in the New Year on the air with you on WGN Radio from the Showcase Studio for the very first time.  Well, buckle up because, once again, the New Year will start with Steve & Johnnie’s “Cheap Date Life After Dark New Year’s Eve Extravaganza” on WGN Radio!!

We’ll kick off this live 22nd anniversary broadcast with in-studio performances from several guests including Josh Solomon and Erika Brett from The Empty Pockets plus one of the featured artists on the PBS Soundstage Special “Cornerstones Of Rock,”  the man who sang lead on many of The New Colony Six’s hit records, Ronnie Rice, as well as, fresh from her “Legends” tour, the multi-talented Lisa McClowry along with The Musical Mentalist, Sidney Friedman, who will have some predictions for the new year.

We’ll have hourly countdowns from different time zones:

At 11 PM we’ll countdown live from New York’s Time Square.

At Midnight, we’ll have the Chicago countdown live with thousands from right outside our studio on Michigan Ave.

At 1 AM, we’ll have the New Year’s Eve Whiskey Row “Boot Drop” countdown, live, from Prescott Arizona.

Throughout the show we’ll be checking in with some old friends.  For example, there is this guy named Spike who just might be familiar to you and then there is our friend Chuck Mead from BR549 and “The Million Dollar Quartet.”  And, of course, we’ll have a lot more “drop-in” surprises, but if we told you everything you wouldn’t be surprised.

And all this is just the tip of the iceberg!

9 AM — Well, if you haven’t had the chance to pick up any turkeys for Thanksgiving, here we are!  We’ll be gobbling up the airwaves from 9-Noon this Thanksgiving day on WGN.

Along with turkey we’ll serve up come chicken, of the rubber variety, when we’re joined by Zvengoolie a/k/a Rich Koz.  We’ll also be serving up Chicago blues master, Dave Specter along with Chicago rock legend, Jim Peterik.

Once again, by request, “Chef John” will reveal the secret to his “stuffin’ muffins” recipe and we’ll have our traditional Thanksgiving kick off to the holiday season, an in-studio performance from Muriel Anderson.

And, of course, we’ll have a few more surprises for you to gobble up.

Patti’s son just started guitar and is loving learning about Les Paul by reading our book, “A Little More Les,” and Patti’s producer, Craig Collins, was recently diagnosed with Celiac Disease.  So, to be sure we can answer any questions that come up, we just might have to show up with guitars, books and some of Johnnie’s Gluten-Free goodies.

3:05 AM — We set our “Life After Dark” alarm clock so we can be up to have fun in the wee hours of a Sunday morning in the studio with Dave Plier on WGN Radio.

11:30 AM —  We’ll get to spend some quality time with two of our favorite people, Bill Leff and Wendy Snyder, on WGN Radio.

4-7 PM — We’ll be at the Sam Ash Music Store, in Lombard (1139 South Main St.) for an appearance/book signing.

Thursday morning, 8/27/15

We’ll join Dean Richards on WGN-TV, in the 9 AM hour, as he broadcasts live from the Les Paul Big Sound Experience exhibit, in Lombard.

Wednesday night/Thursday morning, 8/27/15

2-5 AM — We’ll be on Nick Digilio’s show on WGN Radio with information about our new book A Little More Les, the Les Paul Big Sound Experience exhibit and, since we’re hangin’ with Nick, who knows what else might break out!!
